More About PHHC
By HUD regulation and City of Port Huron ordinance, the Port Huron Housing Commission is charged with providing decent, safe, and sanitary dwellings without overcrowding for those families and seniors who lack the amount of income necessary to provide these accommodations on their own. It operates on funding received solely from rental income and federal housing subsidies. Under the Public Housing Program, the Housing Commission owns and operates five affordable housing villages, three of which are designated for family living and two designated for senior living.
The Housing Commission is governed by a Board of five Commissioners which are appointed by the City of Port Huron City Manager to staggered five-year terms. The Housing Commissioners, along with staff, pride themselves on a strong financial commitment and they are dedicated to meet the above charge. These commitments are achieved from our many housing, modernization, maintenance, and resident service programs.
